Why a new blockchain ?

Everybody I know is asking me, what is the f...ing reason to do a new blockchain?

They may be right at the first sight, there are many blockchains around, everyone claiming is better of the other and with strong team and investors.

Some centuries ago, at the time we were designing the project, we evaluated accurately to use an existing blockchain and building everything we needed by smart contracts.

Smart Contracts PROS versus Blockchain

1. Easier development.
2. Plenty of skilled developers on the market.
3. No hassle in keeping up a community of blockchain nodes

Smart Contracts CONS versus Blockchain

1. High or unpredictable gas fees.
2. Difficult security management because of many smart contracts involved.
3. Slower execution at the least for some bockchains

Blockchain CONS versus Smart Contracts

1. Additional source code to manage and maintain.
2. Few developers available on Rust language and Substrate Framework.
3. Keep up a community of reliable validators.

Blockchain PROS versus Smart Contracts

1. Manageable policy on gas fees.
2. Easier security management.
3. No memory limits.
4. Strong typed language (RUST).
5. Upgradable runtime with no fork.

At the end we decided for the harder way of building a blockchain with a specific runtime for the market place.

The Substrate framework by Parity Tech was the reason of the choice (thanks Parity guys!).

Substrate has all the features we needed including un upgradable runtime a strong typed language like Rust and the possibility to be part of the Polkadot echo-system as para-chain.
